Introduction
Orchestrate allows a user to define Macros which can be used to automate tasks by sending remote control key sequences to the media player from the Orchestrate management platform. These are useful to quickly enter into a diagnostic or configuration menu and modify a setting.
When a Macro is been created it will appear in the the Preferences panel of the main Resolve screen shown below.
This article describes how a user can configure these macros to suit their own business needs.

Summary
Configuring a Macro
We will use the example of creating a Macro to go to channel number 4 in the Amino Zapper application and display the subtitles/close caption menu. You can configure Macros both from an active Resolve session or from the My Account option under the main menu on the left of the screen when you enter Resolve. It is typically best to record the macro from an active resolve session while using a device and so this is the approach that we will demonstrate.
- Start a Resolve session for the device you would like to use to make the Macro recording.
- Ensure that you have selected the correct remote control for the media player. For H-Series devices this will typically be Oak. A picture of the remote control will be shown when you make the selection so that you can easily confirm that you are using the correct one for your media player.
- Next, click the 'Edit' button on the right-hand side of the Key Macros drop-down box and then click the 'New Macro' button which is displayed at the bottom of the list.
- Type a short descriptive name in the 'Name' field but do not click the tick symbol on this list entry yet
- You're ready to record your macro. Simply use the on-screen remote control to perform the actions you want to record in your macro.
- When you have finished you can click the tick symbol to save.
- In this example, you should have the following new macro shown in the list
Name Key Macro 4 subs four titles Delete
If you make a mistake simply click the Delete button beside the new entry which you created and repeat the steps until you are happy with the new macro. When complete click the Done Editing button.
You now have a new custom macro. To use it simply click the Key Macros drop-down list and select the macro you created.
In our example, the macro was named 4 subs, and by clicking this and pressing 'Send' this key sequence will be sent to the media player.
