Introduction
This article shows how to update a media player via USB allowing you to use any Amino H-Series device where there is no Internet connection.
It can be used to update firmware, channel line-up, and INI configuration, previously created using the Amino USB Image creator.
Prerequisites
- Use the USB image creator to prepare a firmware image of the required firmware version.
- You have a USB storage device formatted as FAT32 with at least 2GB of free space.
Summary
The USB image creator will generate a .zip file containing the firmware image and other configurations that you specified using the web application.
Right-click on the .zip file you downloaded and choose “Extract All”. When prompted to select where to extract the files, choose the USB storage device location and extract all files.
Find the USB drive on your PC, right-click and choose "Eject". Skipping this step can corrupt the contents of the USB storage device.
Once the drive has been ejected, unplug it from your PC. Disconnect power to the Media Player and plug the USB device into the USB port on the back panel.
Note: Be sure to use the USB port closest to the power cable connector as shown in the image below.
Boot the media player with the USB device inserted. You should see the splash screen logo followed by a message stating, “Installing system update”.
When the installation has completed the device will reboot and you will be prompted to remove the USB.
Remove the USB drive and power off the device then power it on once again and wait while the box reboots. It will restart normally and update to the new version of the firmware which you installed.
