Digital Signage device serial cable pin-out
The interface is provided at serial RS232 standard on a DE-9 male connector. The DE-9 male connector is wired as shown below (view on pins):
- Pin 1 - IR receive/ pass through from TV. TTL level S.SV max with integrated weak pull-up resistor 47K nominal
- Pin 2 - Rx
- Pin 3 - Tx
- Pin 4 - DTR (internally looped from DSR)
- Pin 5 - Ov
- Pin 6 - Not connected
- Pin 7 - RTS (internally looped from CTS)
- Pin 8 - Not connected
- Pin 9 - IR transmit (LVTTL, 4mA max)
RJ12 to DE-9 adapter
The supplied RJ12 to female DE-9 adapter can be used with the above cable to construct a DE-9 to DE-9 cable with flexible pinning for different models of hospitality TVs.
By using the pin-outs above, together with the pin-out of the connector on your TV set, the adapter pins can be inserted in the correct locations of the DE-9 connector shell to match your TV.
Unused connection wires in the adapter can be trimmed off.
